Choosing a Google Business Profile agency: what to compare

Compare audits, optimisation, management, access and deliverables before hiring a Google Business Profile agency.

Compare the work, approvals and deliverables before looking at price alone.

Start with the needs of your business

Creating a profile, correcting information, developing content and resolving a suspension require different interventions. Explain the issue, recent changes and the time you can devote to follow-up. You can then compare proposals for equivalent work rather than vague package names. Identify the business contact who can confirm facts and approve the agreed changes.

Separate an audit, optimisation and management

An audit identifies what needs attention. Optimisation implements agreed changes. Ongoing management organises updates and approvals over time. Ask who prepares text and photos, who approves them and how publication is checked. Compare one-off optimisation and monthly management according to your needs; they are not interchangeable services.

Request a clear scope and deliverables

The quote should identify the locations covered, included actions, information you must provide and limits. Clarify sensitive issues, additional requests and the end of the engagement. Useful reporting distinguishes proposed, approved, submitted and visible changes. A promised number of keywords does not explain the work delivered or demonstrate that a customer contacted your business.

Check account access and promises

Keep control of your account and grant access appropriate to the work without sharing your password. An agency cannot decide whether Google removes a review or reinstates a profile. Local ranking depends on the principles explained by Google, which extend beyond profile content. Evaluate the method and evidence instead of a guaranteed first position.

Measure over a meaningful period

Record the starting point and agree what will be tracked: information accuracy, completed work, available interactions and enquiries received. Compare suitable periods while considering seasonality and other campaigns. A click is not automatically a customer. Read the guide to Google profile performance data to prepare a discussion based on the available evidence rather than isolated changes.
